Born and raised in the beautiful Skagit Valley of Washington by my artistic, elementary school teaching mother, I grew up loving art in all mediums and forms. My mom would have me make sample art projects for her class before the day of her lesson plans. I also had an early love, passion, and interest in Architecture. That said, it was no surprise that after 2 years of general studies at Western Washington University, I decided to transfer to The Seattle Art Institute to get my Bachelor's degree in Interior Design.
Before moving to Seattle to pursue Interior Design, I took college level art classes and began painting in my spare time, even selling a few from a local restaurant bar I worked in. In 2005, after only living in Seattle for a year, I landed my first solo gallery exhibition at the Auto Gallery of Seattle, in Beltown. There I showed 47 large scale, abstract, heavily textured Acrylic paintings, and then broke the gallery's record for number of paintings sold by an artist on opening night. This really boosted my confidence, passion to paint, and pursue it more. It also lead to requests for custom painting orders, which I began independently contracting on the side, while going to school.
In 2007, I graduated from the Art Institute with my Bachelor's in Interior Design and was awarded the Best Portfolio of Show, a huge honor. From there I got my business license and began showing and selling my paintings at the Pioneer Square First Thursday Art Walks in Seattle. By 2010, I was showing in Summer Arts and Craft Festivals all over the Pacific Northwest, giving me much needed exposure and resulting in many sales, custom orders both corporate and private, and gallery exposure.
